Care Instructions

Caring for Your Fur Jewelry

Your fur jewelry is a beautifully handcrafted piece that, with proper care, will maintain its unique elegance for years to come. Just like with any fine jewelry, prevention is key to preserving its natural beauty. We recommend applying fragrances, makeup, and hair styling products before putting on your fur jewelry to avoid product buildup on both the fur and metal components.

Certain furs, such as marten and lynx, have finer hairs and are less tolerant of oils from substances like fragrance or makeup, as well as natural body oils. These finer furs may require more frequent gentle cleaning. We provide a spoolie with each purchase, which should be used regularly to gently brush out the fur. Be sure to use this spoolie solely for your fur jewelry and never for makeup application—keeping the two separate ensures the longevity of your pieces.

For all fur types, it’s important to store your jewelry in a way that allows the fur to breathe. Either store them flat in the box they came with or hang them up. If the fur becomes slightly bent or squished, don't worry—the hairs will relax back into their natural position over time, similar to how a temporary bend in human hair from a ponytail disappears.

Environmental factors can also affect your fur jewelry. In particularly humid climates, finer furs may experience more visible “weight” from the humidity, while in very dry climates, the fur may accumulate static electricity—both are perfectly normal and won't harm the fur. Avoid wearing your jewelry in the shower or allowing it to get fully soaked with water as this will damage the hide (the fur is still attached to the hide!). However, if the fur becomes damp from rain, allow it to dry completely and gently brush it with your spoolie afterward to restore its original fullness. Please do NOT brush the fur when it is wet as this creates additional resistance to brushing and may result in hairs being pulled out.

For more stubborn build-up on your fur jewelry, you can use our signature fur cleaner (Clean and Simple), designed specifically to refresh the texture and vibrancy of your fur pieces.

For the metal components of your jewelry, including silver, gold, and copper finishes, use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to bring back their shine without compromising the delicate design.

By following these care tips, your fur jewelry will continue to look stunning, telling its story with every wear.
